Kelly Lang's "I'm Not Going Anywhere" Featured In The New Ascension 'Your Care is Our Calling' National Campaign Honoring Caregivers and Patients During a Time of Distancing

Singer-Songwriter and Ascension Patient Kelly Lang Wrote “I’m Not Going Anywhere” Just Before Her Own Battle With Breast Cancer

Offering hope and compassion through a lyrical journey that can only be told through the eyes of someone who has lived it, former Ascension Saint Thomas patient and award-winning recording artist, Kelly Lang delivers her song “I’m Not Going Anywhere” as an ode to the challenging and compassionate work of caregivers. To share the sense of calling and commitment to serve patients and communities, Ascension; one of the nation’s leading and largest nonprofit Catholic health systems, has developed a new marketing campaign that celebrates a call to serve. What began as a regional campaign in the Nashville area, became so successful that it went national. This ‘Your Care Is Our Calling’ campaign honors the role of caregivers and their special bond with those that they are privileged to serve and features emotional vignettes of connection.

Kelly was inspired to write the song in 2004 as she watched a close friend manage a loved one’s illness. Three months later, Kelly was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer and began a journey of her own at Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. In remission since 2005, Kelly has said that she hopes her voice can echo beacons of light and encourage patients with cancer to continue fighting.

"It's amazing to see that a song that I wrote 16 years ago - shortly before I received extraordinary care from Ascension Saint Thomas while being treated for breast cancer - is now being used as part of Ascension's national campaign to reassure patients and the community and give gratitude to their caregivers. I'm humbled and moved that the song has resonated so deeply with people across the country," said Kelly Lang.

The campaign, which will begin in all Ascension Ministry Markets in early November, will include TV, radio and print advertising, and outdoor billboards, as well as targeted online advertising, direct-to-patient emails, and patient storytelling through our social media channels.
