“Tell Me When It’s Over” Featuring Chris Stapleton

After I moved to Nashville in 2006 to be nearer to my family, I got a lot of encouragement from the country music community to make a record for the country format. Once I decided to do it, I went to work writing with some of the best songwriters in Nashville, one of whom was Chris Stapleton. At the time, he was a well-known songwriter, but had not made his name as a solo artist yet.

Together, we wrote a song called “Homesick” for my Feels Like Home record, which ended up being one of my favorite tracks on it. I loved writing with Chris, and have written with him a few times since then.

When it came time to put Threads together, I couldn’t imagine not asking Chris to write and record something with me for this album. It was a great couple of days in the studio and I just love this guy so much. In fact, we wrote another song called “Flying Blind” which appears on Threads with James Taylor contributing his incredible voice and guitar.
